Characters you used to hate, but grew to love Anonymous 01/04/2022 (Tue) 19:11:09 No. 6445
And maybe why. Some fun discussion!
>>17599 >>17604 I'm still annoyed that they never showed her sticking up for herself to Suri and quitting on screen.
>>17622 Would have been cool to have a separate episode where Suri becomes some sort of fashion villian and Coco has to put a stop to her villiany in Manehattan.
>>18491 I was half expecting Suri to show up as an antagonist in Made in Manehattan to try and sabotage Coco's play. Her whole "everypony for themselves" mindset would have contrasted nicely with the episodes theme of community. It would have been nice to see Coco confront her without being so meek.

>>7120 >>9120 Agreed. I thought they were going to be annoying kid characters when they were first introduced, just there to crack one liners and irritate the mane 6. And in S1, with episodes like Stare Master, they kind of are that. But later episodes like Cutie Mark Chronicles and Sisterhooves Social introduced more aspects to Sweetie and Scootaloo's character other than "We're also blankflanks that want cutie marks!" Like the other Anon said, they are a funny trio, and they would have a following in the fandom even if that was all there was to them. But I think the thing that makes them great is that they're like a more streamlined version of the M6. Any similarities made to their big sisters would be obvious, but they actually share traits with all of them. Don't overlook how excitable Sweetie Belle gets sometimes, or her love of breaking out into song, two things we often attribute to Pinkie Pie. Apple Bloom and Twilight are both curious and natural leaders. And like Fluttershy, Scootaloo is a bad flier, and has serious self-esteem issues. They could easily lead their own show. Why not? The Powerpuff Girls are still popular.

>>15767 Nothing wrong with liking best pony. >>15772 I disliked Twilight at first but came around after she took Starlight under her wing. I found her mentor mommy relationship with Glimmy adorable as hell and it was basically the first time she took the reigns without needing Celestia's guidance, she finally made her own decisions for once highlighting just how far she's come as a princess. It was suddenly like she had agency and desires of her own. I still wish unicorn Twilight was handled differently.

I used to hate Twist. I didn't like her colors that much and I thought her voice was annoying. Also hating Twist was kind of a meme. She's not that bad though. There are ponies with worse color schemes and voices now. She's interesting because you can make stories about her and Apple Bloom that don't have to follow anything in the show, since the show forgot she exists. I didn't like Bon Bon either. Her coat reminded me of skin color or aging wallpaper and she was just Lyra's uglier grumpy friend. Now I appreciate grumpy ponies more because they're funny. There was sort of a thing for a while early on where people would make OCs with human skin/hair colors and that was annoying. Thinking of a pony being covered in skin instead of a coat is gross, like a hairless cat.

I don't waifu Dash, but she's still one of my favorites out of the Mane 6. I remember I was really annoyed by her character at first, though. I don't think I started enjoying her until Read It and Weep.
>>17616 >Coco could have filled the same role as Sassy Saddles in Canterlot Boutique. No, Sassy is confident and Coco isn't. Coco would not have been able to boss around Rarity as if she is the boss and thus the conflict would not have occured
>>6445 I can't think of a single character my opinion has changed of.

>>17616 >One of the things I hate the most about later seasons is that they needlessly introduce new one off characters instead of using preexisting ones that would make sense One of the biggest issues plaguing all forms of media.
