Advertising a server. Anonymous 08/06/2023 (Sun) 02:51:35 Id:2ac105 No. 574
I want to advertise /mlp/'s gmod server here to see if there's anyone interested on it. I'm not sure if this is permitted in the rules so I apologize if I'm breaking any.
>>575 Thanks for the thread Idea! Yet I'd still wait for a mod or the owner to confirm if I can, I don't want to get into any problems.
>>574 I was a bit concerned about it potentially being against global rule 10. Talking with other staff, I'm told it's not quite the same. So I think it'll be ok. I think I will suggest that the thread be not intended strictly for advertisement, in the sense that there should be some expectation of discussion in thread. I would think this would be the case anyway, but I thought I'd mention it. >I'm not sure if this is permitted in the rules so I apologize if I'm breaking any. That's what /qa/ is for, we'll do our best to try and answer your questions.
>>577 Thanks for the response! I was thinking of making the same thread that we always have but on /fim/. This would be the same copy, and the thread would be for the discussion of the server, to send screenshots or put a small status on the server (players usually bump the thread with the amount of players on it and/or in which gamemode they're in) with the difference that it'll be for nhnb users and it'll work as a backup thread for situations like yesterday when 4chan went down. like I said, thanks for the response and see you guys later on the thread! (also I probably have a different id, sorry for that)
I have considered hosting a NHNB Minecraft server, so now because of this question I know I can if I want to.
>>579 That'd be fun too, yet we have to get more people and we can't talk about this site on /mlp/. Or maybe this site has enough players for that, sorry for being a turbonewfag
>>580 >Or maybe this site has enough players for that Depends on the level of interest really. There are lots of lurkers who don't post much so the site isn't as small as it seems sometimes. If I decided to host it it would be vanilla 1.2.1 because I prefer older versions and I am super familiar with that one. Pluggins and shit just bloat the game and feel clunky. No rules except no hacking, but I don't know how well I could really enforce that. I think people here are nice enough to get along for the most part, and some griefing trolling and rivalry adds spice to the game as far as I see it. If someone straight up logged in with a nuker or something I would have backups. I wouldn't mention the server outside of the NHNB thread and would hope others respect that to keep it small and tight knit, randoms from other sites would start shit have no investment and be too much trouble the way I would host it. I know not everyone who would end up joining will see this post but a show of hands would be good for me to consider if it's worth it. Even just a few players is enough; server hosting is very cheap and this would be quite low maintnenece.
>>581 Or rather a show of hooves
>>581 Sounds good, I'd even help if I can. I mentioned /mlp/ because since this is my first time using this site I thought that it didn't have too many users and I saw people talk about bringing anons from /mlp/ to make this site more active, but it's nice to see that it could be done only with NHNB users. And of course people would have to discuss what would be better (for example some anons prefer a different version than the one you want to use, mods, etc)
>>583 I'd host anything from the alpha vesions to 1.6.2 Where I draw the line is that they changed flower placement so that it's not in the center of the block and made roses into poppies. They also gimped the oceans and caves in that version which makes the world less fun to explore. If we did 1.6.2 it would have the advantage that there are horses for one thing. There would also be more options for technical builds with hoppers, droppers, comparators, and daylight sensors. If we did 1.2.1 we would get a unique world generation that is my personal favorite where the forests look different than any other version because of a bug. I also know a lot of fun glitches for that version like breaking bedrock, duplicating sand and using it to make belt machines which opens up redstone in interesting ways, and cosetically altering blocks to get otherwise unatainable varients. If we did Beta 1.7 we could potentially move the spawn point to the far lands, although the gimick of those wears off after a while and they are a very unwelcoming place.
>>586 Sounds good, I'd suggest to use Nostalgic Tweaks if people don't mid mods. It's a mod that brings a lot of mechanics from old minecraft releases (beta, alpha and even some post release mechanics). I'd also put it with other mods for old world generation or even mods like Mine Little Pony, but that sounds good too.
