Global rules? Anonymous 07/03/2021 (Sat) 22:20:27 Id:ddf5ce No. 25
Why are the global rules so broad and stifling? Nothing about them seem welcoming or fresh. I mean they are the exact same one that many other rulecucking/unfunny/failing alts have used before. Yet yours are even worse. As I don’t even know how to interpret half of them. Like what the fuck does “12) Do not make off topic posts” even include here? Anime? Pepe? Nothing but more guesswork. Or “5) You will not make extremely low quality posts.” So where do you “draw the line” with this one? Seems very subjective and easily abusable by the staff. "2) You will not post banned content: Grotesque (guro)" The thing pone? More guesswork. "10) No advertising.” Kek then stop advertising on 4chan mby? etc etc etc I had a good chuckle reading your rules. Seems to me like you purposefully wrote most of them to be as vague/unclear as possible. Which is a massive fucking warning sign to anyone with half a brain. Site will be dead within a few months. Good luck to you.

>>25 These plenty of things wrong with this post here, but I think the easiest are >"The thing pone" >mby >image is just "luna.png" Sounds like you're just some nonce come here to try and stir up shit.

>>26 >Sounds like you're just some nonce come here to try and stir up shit. lol wut? Did I give too few examples or something? I felt like I made my point clear enough with how vague and nonsensical the rules are. Also the fucks wrong with Luna? Weird response but whatevs. But don't worry I’ll clarify with some more examples: “8. You will not ban evade.” A completely vapid and pointless rule that none follows anyway. What are vpn’s/tor? No, more often than not rules like these are used for powertripping mods. As staff can simply ban someone they disagree with and claim they were "evading". A very common tactic. Seen it a thousand times as this is what this rule is mostly used for. Massive warning flag. “9. No Spamming or flooding.” Nothing wrong with the rule per say. It just that its completely undefined. Will I get banned for posting 2-3 similar imgs in a row? Will that count as spam or flooding? Maybe I’m editing a pic and uploading it often for feedback in a drawthread. Do I run the risk of getting banned for that? I have no idea. More guesswork. “2. You will not post banned content: Loli/shota” So, is all anime banned then? Like simple reaction imgs? What about foalcon? More guesswork. I’m more confused than anything. “11. Do not impersonate staff.“ Kek just how fragile is the staff here? If someone does alittle satireposting as a mod/b0, then they get banned? Rofl rules like these are nothing but egostroking. No fun allowed, right? Rules need to be super specific to avoid confusion and conflict. Yet its the stuff that’s left out that’s more worrying. Like no upper or lower limits to anything. Nothing is clearly defined at all. Which gives A FUCKTON of wiggle room for staff to abuse and powertrip depending on their mood. How is this not obvious? Its been a while since I've seen rules even worse than 4niggers. Its impressive if nothing else.
>>25 Funny you should mention the rules. I was intending on having a thread on here to discuss and refine them in a little bit. >I mean they are the exact same one that many other rulecucking/unfunny/failing alts have used before. A lot of the rules are common sense and have worked pretty well for other boards, so it's a bit of a no brainer to use them as a base. >Like what the fuck does “12) Do not make off topic posts” Keep the on topic to the subject of the board. Pretty simple. >Anime? Pepe? Correct, off topic. >Seems very subjective and easily abusable by the staff. That's the reason for the mod log. Should we ever happen upon a rouge janny I expect the Anons to keep them in line. Rulings that are more subjective and borderline should generally only result in a warn rather than a ban. >"2) You will not post banned content: Grotesque (guro)" The thing pone? More guesswork. More refinement will be available in time. Thing pone in general should probably be fine. >>27 >I felt like I made my point clear enough with how vague and nonsensical the rules are. If you are concerned, stay around until the discussion on it happens likely sometime in the next week or so (once we've got a draft ready to discuss). >Tor Tor posting is disabled and I do not intend to open it. Too high a chance for abuse. Sorry to anyone who genuinely uses the service. >VPN/evading in general In general, when it's obvious it's happening. >Will I get banned for posting 2-3 similar imgs in a row? Will that count as spam or flooding? Maybe I’m editing a pic and uploading it often for feedback in a drawthread. Do I run the risk of getting banned for that? No. Spam is when it starts to dominate the thread (or catalog) and has no real reason for existing there. >So, is all anime banned then? Like simple reaction imgs? Is all anime loli/shota? In general, pony images will be preferred. The random anime reaction image will likely not result in a ban (provided it doesn't violate other rules), but excessive use may result in a warn. Though at that point it will likely be bordering on spam. >What about foalcon? It falls into the category of "I guess". More specification on this may happen in the future. >If someone does alittle satireposting as a mod/b0, then they get banned? More than likely you will only get a warn unless you refuse to cut it out. >Rules need to be super specific to avoid confusion and conflict. To a large extent, any gaps will be filled in by precedence which quite simply just hasn't happened yet. There are a great many things to consider and for some it might simply be better to cross the bridge when we get there, so as to be able to take involved Anons opinion into account. Hopefully I've answered some questions. As we are new imageboard, we are in large part still feeling things out. If you have specific suggestions to improve the rules, please do post them. In general the goal is for rules that are both clear and concise.

>>27 >Its been a while since I've seen rules even worse than 4niggers. Its impressive if nothing else. lol ok bud >>29 Makes sense to me. I mean, most rules governed by >common sense or are otherwise >filled in by precedence anyway so it only seems appropriate.

>>29 Aight thanks then for the clarification. I guess I'll just have to wait and see how cucked the rules become as they land/settle. As most of your answers here weren't all that reassuring unfortunately. >Tor posting is disabled and I do not intend to open it. Too high a chance for abuse. Sorry to anyone who genuinely uses the service. Massively bad idea. If you're worried about pizza then just have it enabled for text posting only in the config. Lots of good anons ONLY post on chans via tor. Seriously rethink this for the pph traffic. >>30 Fuck off newfag, you have absolutely zero fucking clue about anything.
>>32 sorry dad, have fun avatarfagging
>>33 >avatarfagging lol I avatard Luna because you seemed to get your panties twisted over her for some reason. Glad to see it worked. Have a good one nigger.

>>34 kek will do It was mostly because it looked like you had just saved some random laughing luna image as "luna.png" and then decided to heavily criticize the rules for no real reason, at least in my opinion. Felt like you just came here with the intention of stirring things up. But it's whatever, if you say you didn't and there's a lot of precedent for being a prick about it like this, I'll take you at your word. Peace.
>>37 Normally I'd never apologize for anything on a chan. I'm too old for that. But your post made me feel guilty. Sorry for being a prick to you. Good night ponybro /)
>>38 you're all good. gnight BROny /)
>>27 >more often than not rules like these are used for powertripping mods. As staff can simply ban someone they disagree with and claim they were "evading". A very common tactic. Seen it a thousand times as this is what this rule is mostly used for. Massive warning flag. When the fuck have you seen this? I've literally only ever seen this rule used when someone is spamming some shit and getting repeatedly banned, if you say the exact same thing then mods assume you're just another proxy and slap you with 30 days. Or when someone openly posts "haha I just got banned" (thus obviously evading that ban). >nobody follows it! No, but it gives grounds for handing out much longer bans on proxies of evading people, which makes it at least slightly more difficult to spam. If you have a cycle of proxies, you can't just reuse it every three days; you either need to get a new set of proxies, or you gotta wait a month. >what about foalcon I wouldn't expect that from the rules; banning loli is usually done for legal reasons, and 99% of jurisdictions don't consider foalcon to be CP (even in places like the UK it should be fine, I believe). Loli/shota means explicitly human underage girls and boys, not fillies and colts. >“11. Do not impersonate staff.“ I actually agree with that point. There isn't any real reason for this rule to exist. >>29 >but excessive use may result in a warn. Worth noting that that might just as well count as avatarfagging. >>32 >If you're worried about pizza then just have it enabled for text posting only in the config. Honestly not a bad idea, I'd support this. Is there any other reason not to do this?
>>41 >When the fuck have you seen this? I've been shitposting for 15+ years. Most recently I was the b0 of 9chan /pone/ (gayhorse) before that entire site went to shit. I've also helped out on 8chan as staff before the 8kun transition. So I know enough about how these rules are formed and enacted upon. I've written several myself throughout the years. And thus I know that this "particular rule" is used against anons alot. Understand that I've had many long conversations with other b0's and mods. Saying that they specifically use this one as a "fallback" to ban anons they disagree whit. And so -- depending upon how the rules are rewritten/adjusted later -- this site may or may not become another ghost town. As why would anyone rebuild here? There are already other similarly cucked, ill-defined rulesets used by trigger happy mods elsewhere (like ponychan, 4/mlp etc). And I don't need more of that faggotry. Thus I'm hoping for better rules but I'm not expecting much given mys_elf earlier response. Seen it all before.
>>41 >makes it at least slightly more difficult to spam lol cute >banning loli is usually done for legal reason Yes I know. But you'd be surprised how trigger happy some hosts can be. But given that anthro is banned on here it might be fine. >Is there any other reason not to do this? Text spam. But its nothing a good robot filter can't handle.
>>44 >this particular rule I assume you mean ban evasion. >Saying that they specifically use this one as a "fallback" to ban anons they disagree whit. Not my intention. I intend to use it as stated. Of course I'm not sure there's much I could say to be convincing to you, I guess you'll just have to wait until there's more of a history to go off of. >What about staff abusing thier powers? That is the point of the public mod log. I would hope this would be a strong discouragement to abuse as there would be no hiding it. Should we actually have a rougue janny I would expect the Anons to bring it to my attention. I do think the rule is important to have, else it kind of undermines all the others. Obviously it is a bit difficult to fully enforce given how widespread VPNs are, however it does serve as a good basis for a more harsh punishment should rule violations continue, the poster flaunt the fact that they are evading, or otherwise make obvious that it is the case. Realistically it's about the best we can do and provides a further step before a rangeban. >Why would anyone rebuild This place is meant to be more of somewhere new rather than a replacement. The hope is that this place will be distinct enough for people to browse it in addition to other places. Apologies if I was a bit brief, I should be able to give some better responses tomorrow.
>>29 >rouge >>52 >rougue you're getting there!
>>52 >I guess you'll just have to wait until there's more of a history to go off of. True. For all the rules in the world, in the end, all that matters is how they are enforced. Still, with that said, I do like to see good rules from the "get go". Knowing how shit usually turns out otherwise kek. >The hope is that this place will be distinct enough for people to browse it in addition to other places. I like the strong culture stances such as "No Hooves". Things like that are unifying and good. Defo helps with building identity and personality. Keep that up for sure. >Apologies if I was a bit brief, I should be able to give some better responses tomorrow. Na, no worries. I've said my piece for now. I don't wanna come off as too antagonistic. I can only hope that I've manged to stir your brain alittle about the rules. Its your site so do whatever you want, just don't expect anons to stick around if you make them choke. Less censorship/restrictions = promotes engagement, fun and creativity. Anons go wild. More censorship/restrictions = kills joy but makes moding easier. Little traffic and engagement. Slow site. Pick your poison.
>>41 >When the fuck have you seen this? on 4cuck it happens quite often. whenever some brain damaged janny thinks you're the same person because you have the same opinions they slap blanket ban for 'ban evasion' then parrot their forced meme that only 2 people are the problem because everyone is an IP hopping samefag to them.
>>88 >t. an IP hopping samefag
>>88 Well, here we have the public mod log so hopefully that should dissuade any mod abuse. If there does happen to be some sort of issue I expect to get an email about it. Of course I would recommended attempting a ban appeal, write up what you think happened should there be some kind of mistake. So far the volunteers we've gotten so far seem decent and I hope they would respect the position well.
