random shit daily Anonymous 11/02/2024 (Sat) 22:57:17 No. 18159
I'm gonna try to post in this thread every day for a while, join in if you're real. At least stop by and say hello if we're gonna activate this board now that 4chan is being shitty and getting worse, someone's gotta step up and that may as well be me

I'm gonna try and post at least once every couple days in here to try and re-fulfill OP's goal, kinda treat as one of the /p/ - Random threads from the board. I've been reading Background Pony a lot lately. I remember starting numerous times with the first couple chapters, but the super lengthy prose and my general forgetfulness had stopped me from getting too far. However, now that I have the physical versions (purchased at a recent convention), I'm much more apt to read further, and also because I don't have anything better to do in the late hours of the night. And man... I've said it before and I'll say it again, I love pony fanfiction. It is enthralling, and, although not perfect, completely captures my attention. I never want to stop reading it, but if I don't at least take a day's break inbetween, I'll never be able to digest it properly. And that's part of the problem, being ABLE to digest it properly. I need to slow down and take it in, rather than trying to ravenously dig through it, like you may be able to more with a comic or something. And actually... reflect on the chapters and what they are saying or mean. They really are a lovely thing, each of them, but no less exhilarating and thought-provoking. I guess I could be kind of sad that I haven't read it sooner, but I feel like I might be in a place in my life that it's good to be reading them now. This one goes out to Background Basset for their journey and art for the fic. And to Rebane, thanks for convincing me to read it finally.
>>18701 >Background Pony Is there a ponepaste of that? Or, is it somewhere else that I could get to?
>>18701 Yeah, Background Pony is amazing. Probably my favorite pony fanfic. Once you've finished it i recommend reading this blog where the author explains the ending. Don't open it before you're done because the name of the blog contains... well, it's not really a spoiler, but it's a line from the last chapter. https://www.fimfiction.net/blog/793040/

Some days late, but here we are. Other people can join in too if they want. So about a year or so back, I happened to come across pic related at the local record store. And I thought "no way this can be it," and lo and behold, in the track listing on the back, is their "Come On Eileen" cover. A fucking awesome score that I got for literally a dollar. I know a lot of people hate that PMV because it got super overplayed back in the day, but naw dude, that song and the video will always be a banger. It's actually crazy too because A. the song is just a biiiit sped up from the original (fitting), B. it's trimmed down in some places, and C. the radio bit at the end of the it is actually NOT EDITED IT'S IN THE ACTUAL FUCKING SONG what the fuck But the rest of the album and Save Ferris themselves? Well, if you want to be pessimistic about it, you could sum them up as "we have No Doubt at home." That's not to say that any of the songs are particularly bad, they're pretty good and competently made and mixed, but I'd call it a 6.5/10 album, with the cover being the biggest highlight. A lot of the songs seem to tread the same themes, which kind of brings it down overall, but I think it could benefit a lot from a reorder of the songs. Like, damnit man, bring a couple of those more fun songs forward (Spam, Under 21), and show you've got more than one thing to say before most of the album's over. Yes yes >autism I know, but that kind of thing is important to me. Anyway though, ponies??? >>18702 my brother in luna >>18710 Yeahhh I think I might have accidentally gotten it spoiled for me a way long back and I'm trying my best to ignore it, but it's honestly kind of difficult to. But who knows, maybe they were just messing with people when they posted to the board.

>>18716 based anon, love save ferris although mostly just their early works up to it means everything. starpool has some ok songs but early save ferris has such a nice upbeat pony ska vibe

A short one for today. You might be able to tell I like music. Was listening to my Wanderlust CD the other day (of which I am INCREDIBLY grateful to have), and happened to look at the back of the case. And to my shock, I see "Glaze" listed among the vocal contributors for the second song. I think it's pretty well-known that Lapfox/Renard/em was a huge influence on Woodentoaster, I mean "Awoken" is practically a Renard song with pony affectations (not knocking it at all, but it's what I thought of it the first time I heard it). But to see him here in black-and-white (or purple-on-purple) as having contributed towards something of their idol's is pretty awesome and legitimately wonderful. So when/if I ever meet him, I'll be sure to greet him with a "wait is that THE Glaze who contributed backing vocals on the hit TQBF track Wanderlust??? what a legend put 'er there" By the way, tell me if I get too into the weeds, it's just the pony-related thing I've thought about lately. >>18742 I'll have to look into Starpool, they seem cool, too. I have to say though, one of the strongest parts about Save Ferris is their frontwoman; she has such an astoundingly good voice, and I'm glad she really showed off her chops on that record. One of the things they did perfectly right. Bet Lyra can play a mean flugelhorn.

Determined to make this one directly pony-related. Came across some old .zip's I had sitting on my harddrive that some anons had posted a while back to the board. The first one is some guy who had found his old iPhone and was going through it before probably getting rid of it. There were a ton of screenshots and pics from old /mlp/ on there, and he thought it neat to upload what he had for the board. https://mega.nz/file/fRFT2J4Z#awa7QjdPbZ04QHTQCrvzaKvzHrgxOeArii0_dw7RsSg The second one has a bit more of a story to it. From what I recall, the dude found that he still had some pony folders from when he used to frequent the board. They were nearly exclusively of his waifu Rainbow, with one being full of SFW stuff he would use to regularly post to the board and the other NSFW stuff. When I happened upon the post, only the link to the SFW stuff was still alive. He recounted that Rainbow had been the object of his affections... until he got a gf, and he basically became totally uninterested in bluefast, and the pony show at all anymore. Fuckin' normies. https://mega.nz/file/nJFFXJRY#2_YdPnogxPY02sHz7jW667jdJ7ksz30aGgS4GO7VG-Y I still have them from.. I dunno, 4 or 5 years ago when I found them because I think they're a really neat capsule in time to revisit and be reminded of. The meme macros are also fun to reminisce on, they don't make 'em like they used to. Additionally, the original posts of these two I haven't been able to refind, especially the second one (even though I've looked multiple times), so here they are for anyone to peruse. They were originally uploaded on Mediafire I'm pretty sure, but these here are some reuploads on Mega. No dolphin porn I promise. Also also, Background Pony keeps fucking suckerpunching me. Broke down a bit this morning reading one of the chapters. I'm convinced hardbent critics of pony stuff either A. never read it or B. don't have a feeling bone in their body. Or don't have the means to even partially suspend disbelief or become engrossed in anything other than their own small lives. I know I'm easily pleased with some things too, but all I know is that this, and pony fiction in general, is very much worth it. >>18773 Following on this, Woodentoaster has been putting out some doodles and bits on his socials lately: https://nitter.poast.org/Woodentoaster https://nitter.poast.org/GlazeArchives https://bsky.app/profile/glazearchives.bsky.social He probably won't be posting much to the BlueSky one though because it crushes the heck out of the audio.
