For sure, you'd need to accept that what you're able to do, what you know, it all may not be enough and know that, that's fine.
Everyone at some point will be clueless in how to do anything, and with parenting, its even more important to be willing to get the help you will need, as unlike a traditional craft failure isn't an option. As you either succeed or live with the regret for the rest of one's life.

Don't think that's what they meant by that, rather the notion that to become a father you'd need to change significantly.
Not just something you can learn overnight or even over a year, but is something you wont ever master in its entirety, like a craft.
Theres always so much more you can learn, in become a parent, where the act of learning can be fairly similar in the struggles of learning any craft, having similar ebbs and flows in one's viewpoint.
