Will you be a good dad to your foals?

>>18406 Came here to post this.
>>18401 No, I'd be a terrible parent. One of the reasons I don't want children.
>>18401 While I don't feel I'd ever be a good father, in total earnest could anyone ever feel they'd be a good parent if they truly put another life over their own? Such a thing is impossible to know how far one would need to, or even be willing to put their own life as an afterthought compared to the one they're trying to raise. Probably the most important question to see if you'd do well is are you willing to loose your autonomy for potentially decades? Giving up your own life for one you'd put your everything in. I doubt anyone can truly be ready for such a shift in their way of being.
>>18445 Good post. I've toyed with the notion that parenthood is sort of like mastering a craft, in that a certain amount of ego death is required.
>>18564 >parenthood is sort of like mastering a craft, It'll take many attempts to get good at it?
>>18564 For sure, you'd need to accept that what you're able to do, what you know, it all may not be enough and know that, that's fine. Everyone at some point will be clueless in how to do anything, and with parenting, its even more important to be willing to get the help you will need, as unlike a traditional craft failure isn't an option. As you either succeed or live with the regret for the rest of one's life. >>18570 Don't think that's what they meant by that, rather the notion that to become a father you'd need to change significantly. Not just something you can learn overnight or even over a year, but is something you wont ever master in its entirety, like a craft. Theres always so much more you can learn, in become a parent, where the act of learning can be fairly similar in the struggles of learning any craft, having similar ebbs and flows in one's viewpoint.
>>18401 I'd spoil them because I'd love them too much.

You wouldn't hit your children if they did something wrong, right Anon?

>>21012 They go to the thinking chair and think about what they did wrong, if they still don't understand I'd explain to them using situations in my life that have a similar line of reasoning to get them to figure out what why I did was wrong so they could better understand what why the thing they did might've been wrong. Treat them with respect, and as one more than capable to understand things rather than a form of retaliation that only does more bad than good.
