Of course, that also assumes the preservation spell also facilitates efficient packing and prevents smooshing of muffins on the bottom by the accumulated weight of those at the top. Do you suppose Her Majesty keeps these muffins as a sort of reserve currency to help Equestria in times of need or in times of muffin deficits? She is supremely magnanimous after all.
