There's a very important utility in the denial of furrydom. If /mlp/ was permanently redirected to a furry site just about every nor/mlp/person who is not also into furry shit would not enjoy what they see. The cultural tradition is just too different, even disregarding the fact that we're only interested in one IP. The loudest and most popular communities of furries are unbearably faggy and unfocused, "And I shouldn't like to inquire too closely into the case of the tenth"
If the /mlp/sphere is furry then it's some very insular and unorthodox corner of furrydom
You can call it self-identity bullshit if you like but I will never consider myself a furry, and it is in both of our best interests if most anons share my stance, or at least leave their furry baggage at the door
