"Refuge" Community Artpack Anonymous 04/17/2025 (Thu) 02:48:58 No. 22012
Announcing "Refuge": a pony artpack celebrating our home - past, present, and future. If you're seeing this post, you've probably been impacted by /mlp/'s downtime, for better or for worse. This artpack is an opportunity to reflect, as a community, on what it means for your home to disappear, and what it means to come together in a new home, with hope or with fear. I'll put a thread up on both primary altchans, because this is for all of us. >Theme The theme is "Refuge" and "Home - past, present, and future", but you're welcome to take that inspiration however you wish - somber and reflective, lighthearted and joyful, anything between a painting of an idyllic Equestrian hearth to a meme about your favorite pony altchan. SFW is encouraged but not strictly required. >How to contribute Any kind of art is welcome and you're encouraged to think outside of the box - digital/physical art, greentext, essays/eulogies, speeches, music, sculpture, memes, and so on are fair game. Any skill level is okay; go ahead and try your hardest though. If you're shit at drawing, try something you're good at! Embroidery maybe? When you have something ready, feel free to post it and the project files in the thread if you like, and post the finished export here (keep the filesize in check, mega has a 20gb max): https://mega.nz/filerequest/IBpdzNnuIlY Tentative deadline is Friday the 2nd of May, about two weeks from now.
forgot trip
>>22012 Is sfmshit allowed?
>>22051 try not to make it shit, but the medium is of course allowed
>>22012 Born to Silly was fun, and I'd love to contribute to this pack too. I'll write a pregnancy story celebrating new beginnings.
>>22157 Hey that sounds great! The nice, clean pregnancy greens in the BtS pack were really cute! By the way, is the artpack going to support charity or is everything going to be free?
>>22157 New home, new foal, a new beginning.
>>22186 it will be free, this is my first time running anything like this and I don't wanna deal with the responsibility of handling money.
>>22012 >Embroidery maybe
>>22157 >pregnancy story How annoyed are you that you can't wear your Rarity flag on here?
>>23328 Not very, you recognized me regardless and just had to point it out.
Tamers is still making stuff at least.
dont engage with bait.
Engage all bait.
>>22012 This will never be our home you faggot I will not participate for this reason altchans ate not our home now Here's your fucking you and fuck you for pinning this I also do not want to cum inside rainbow dasg
(326.46 KB 1024x991 1067879.png)
>>24252 >I also do not want to cum inside Rainbow Dash Why that sound like somethin' a heretic would say pardner.
>>22012 Anybody got any ideas/working on anything?
>>24518 May try to draw NHNB's anonfilly, no promises though
>>24518 I have a silly idea. I just need to stop being lazy.
>>24518 Yeah, I have two ideas, one is just a rough sketch at the moment. I'm not great or quick with drawing, but I'm workin' on it
>>24518 I have an idea of anonfilly (4chan), watching in horror as her home (4chan) gets destroyed by a meteor as she devastatingly looks at it.
>>24518 I wanted to make a very small game, but failing that I'll write a green

Thought it would be funny if she was smiling at her home burning. Think this image needs anything before I submit it? I'm a beginner artist so I may have missed something
>>25351 >Think this image needs anything before I submit it? Looks mostly fine to me, the line around her front right hoof not wrapping around it completely kinda makes it look like it's bleeding into the ground, another thing could be maybe adding a curved line around the middle of her ear to add detail, or maybe a tuft of fur

>>22012 Cinnamon Pear has a message for all the refugees This is my first art pack ever, I'm pumped.
>>25810 >I have to draw an Apple picture to combat this slander. Sigh...
>>25810 Based Pear supremacist.

What do you guys think of my 3d war pony? Thinking about making a small game with him.
>>26540 Lookin' cool
>>26540 Wow cute!
>>26540 Very neat! The eyes might be a little big though, even for colorful pony standards.
>>26540 That looks awesome! A pony remains joyful in times of war >>26640 True, but eyes have a cute factor. Its what makes mlp appealing. If not so, this pony would be a little uncanny which is perfect for war themed creations
>>26640 >>26641 >>26558 >>26561 Hey, thanks. The eyes are fully adjustable. I was just being lazy and left em mostly in their default state. They're intended to be crazy eyes most of the time. The eyes even shrink-wrap to the mesh so you can slide them around on the head.
>>26686 What kinda small game are you thinking of makin' with 'em?
>>26688 Kind of like opposite mlp. They drill for magic like oil and somebody sabotaged the ocean magic rigs. So their queen decided to wage friendship on neighboring nations to "repurpose" their magic. It'll be kind of like the old army man games. The complexity is purely based on how much gumption I'm willing to put in.
>>26540 >Ponker's Bad Hoof Day
>>26700 Sounds rad. what genre of game do you have in mind? A goofy platformer would be cool, I understand if that's too much though; oh ya, and what game engine are you using?
>>26782 It'll be a third person shooter. The gameplay will hopefully be reminiscent of the original CBFD multiplayer with a big team battle feel and modern controls. You have earth ponies being the main force using magic powered weapons. The pegasi will fulfill a support roll essentially dropping friendship bombs. The unicorns are essentially ponies, but they don't need a magic battle saddle. They have less health but can call in bigger support items. Your pony will be spawned with a random color. If it turns into a big thing, the development will result in a conquest mode at first for fun. Then I can work on a campaign which will be a linear story following a squad.
>>26831 As far as the engine, I have more experience in unity. I'm not breaking the bank with graphics but I'll play around to see what works best. My other goal is to let the basement dwellers play on grandma's shitbox computer.
>>26834 >Unity Nice to see you're not messing around with some over ambitious bullshit engine like Unreal; I actually feel like you might release something cool now, I'd recommend not adding anything too Fim related to avoid copy right, and to keep the project simple, like say, a two hour experience max to get your bearings. Try checking out this guys videos, his stuff might help. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xBAzzgMIqV0
>>26838 Yeah I'm gonna keep it more like the cabbage patch version. You'll know what it's referencing, but no cutie marks or anything like that. Hell as soon as the jokes start flying, it'll be obvious that friendship is a word only.
>>26843 >but no cutie marks or anything like that. I tried looking into if cutie marks themselves were copyrighted or not, and didn't find a definitive answer, the name is for sure though.
>>26855 Yeah, but the focus on them is so little in my project. It'd just be a bunch of nothing if I made them.
>>26888 If I did do them though, I'd probably call 'em something stupid. Like a Vocational Stamp
>>26888 >It'd just be a bunch of nothing if I made them. Probably for the best if you have less stuff to worry about making. >If I did do them though, I'd probably call 'em something stupid. You could go all out on the satire and call them tramp stamps
>>26907 Haha, you don't become an alicorn if you do something special. You get fucking branded. And tramp is the rank
>>26937 It's called a tramp stamp ceremony.
>>26831 Somehow I managed to miss this post. You should probably try making a more linear experience with a few levels first, not even sure if you should have the player shoot or not, maybe man a turret or something but other then that basic melee might be the way to go (like say, swinging a shovel that it holds in its mouth, or bucking). >>26937 >>26940 Could try having this be a sort of ending cutscene.
>>25810 holy based
(243.68 KB 597x553 MLP_56.png)
>>26989 It stinks. I'd like to tinker more on it to try some things. But I'm on a work trip for the week and my pizza chip little badass laptop won't run the latest version of blender. Which is needed on account of the eyes. I'll crank on some of the miscellaneous things and polish them out when I get back to my "fuck nuts and retard strong" big money PC.
Working on a green, but it's still in progress. Should I go ahead and post the parts I have so far here?
>>27149 If it'll motivate you to finish it then sure.

>Irony has a vicious sense of humor. >Only a rock could wreck a life built on rocks. >A meteorite. >Not a meteor, Limestone knew the difference. >Space rock or not, it was still a rock. >Her thing. Her domain. Her farm. >That's what she told them: "It hit my basalt and topsoil. That makes it my jurisdiction." >The Crown disagreed. >A yellow quarantine sigil bloomed across Pie Rockstead: "MUTAGENIC LITHO-BIOHAZARD." >Overnight, home became forbidden ground. >Mom and Dad were shipped to Canterlot on a royal voucher. >Marble bolted, hiding with Pinkie in the Sugar Asylum. >Maud left a slate scrap: "Gone spelunking. Don't wait." >Holder's Boulder still stood. >The meteorite swerved around it, wary of something older and meaner. >Smart rock. >But now she was homeless. Cutie‑mark‑directionless. >You don't just pry Limestone Pie off a rock farm. >That's like gouging granite out of a load‑bearing wall. >Everything creaks after that. >She needed a new quarry, another farm. >Unfortunately, Equestria has only so many places willing to pay for soil-density audits and midnight geode rotations. >So she hit the circuit.
(246.97 KB 500x500 Lime2.png)
>>27163 >First stop: Poly-Lith Acres, a "diverse-materials collective" with a slogan that read: >ALL STONES, AND STONE-ADJACENTS, WELCOME. >They claimed to farm rocks, though "rock" was a generously applied term here. >Salt-lick obelisks. >Coral formations. >Polished resin sculptures. >Limestone halted at a particularly dubious pile. "And what's this supposed to be?" >"Anthrocite," the foremare announced brightly. "You mean anthracite." >"No no. Anthro-cite. Same carbon content, just, y'know, more curves." "Those aren't rocks," Limestone deadpanned. "They're cosplay in aggregate form." >"Oh, you're one of those 'stone snobs.' No fun allowed! You're why rock ponies get stereotyped as joyless!" "Joy is a non-metric property." >She tapped the 'Anthrocite' with her hoof. It squeaked. >"When you can't take the heat," the foremare huffed, "go crawl back to your igneous bedrock." "Gladly." Limestone turned away, muttering strata-based curses, then stopped short. "What in Tartarus is THAT?" >"Our apricot trees." "..." >"They are stone fruits." >She never went back.
(1.15 MB 2000x1600 Lime3.png)
>>27166 >Now, this much was rock-solid fact: >Rock ponies had a reputation for being dull. >The Pie family wore that label like layers of sediment: flat, weighty, unmoved. >Well… except for Pinkie. >She was the rogue quartz vein splitting a wall of basalt. >Limestone never pretended to glitter, but somehow the gate-mare's presence made even her seem gaudy. >"Noble Heritage, Natural Bedrock," she declared sternly. "We uphold only the purest igneous traditions. No metamorphic dilution, no sedimentary compromise." >A massive slate-bound tome landed heavily on the desk between them. >"Compliance Compendium, 37th Edition. Sign to acknowledge." >Limestone flipped it open. ==SECTION I — ACCEPTABLE MATERIALS >Basalt — Standard; one pickaxe cycle per 90 minutes >Granite — Extra chisel fee; strikes limited to one per 2 hours >Peridotite — Quota-controlled; submit Core Sample Form Δ >Quartz — Clear only; impurity limit 0.05% ==SECTION II — CONTESTED MATERIALS (Pending Purity Board Vote) >Obsidian — "Volcanic glass is glass, not rock" (appeal pending) >Pegmatite — Suspended due to "grain-size irregularities" >Gabbro — Flagged for "xenolith contamination concerns"; review every 30 days ==SECTION III — PROHIBITED MATERIALS >Marble — "Metamorphic corruption"; lifetime ban >Sandstone — "Sedimentary degeneracy" >Anthracite — Refer to Incident Report 14-B ==APPENDIX A — APPROVED IGNEOUS EXCLAMATIONS >"Great galloping granite!" — Approved >"For shale's sake!" — Approved >"Oh, schist!" — Pending tone review >"Rock me sideways!" — Rejected (excessively frivolous) >Limestone's eye twitched. She slammed the tome shut. "Marble is a perfectly respectable rock!" >The gate-mare gasped, hugging her compliance ledger protectively. >"Metamorphic sympathizer!" >Limestone ground her teeth hard enough to register on the Mohs scale. "It's literally just recrystallized limestone!" >"Recrystallization? Next you'll be advocating mudstone!" "Rock me sideways!" >A rune-red alarm blared. >"Tone violation recorded! Banished from the premises for one thousand years!" >She didn't return either.
>>27167 And that's all for now.
>>27007 How long would you say it took you to learn Unity? I've thought about making a Pony game in it before, or helping with a project using it.
>>27167 holy fuck if that's a simple compliance compendium, what the fuck did maud need to do to get her rockdorate?
(132.87 KB 610x343 Smart_Purple.png)
>>27167 >Noble Heritage, Natural Bedrock i got it
(1.57 MB 2690x3718 1684553593283104.png)
>>27167 love this
>>27163 >>Holder's Boulder still stood. >>The meteorite swerved around it, wary of something older and meaner. >>Smart rock. Ominous
>>27199 I'm no Picasso and still have a shitload to learn. But I've been diddling around with it since 2013. But in all honesty. I have a focus now more than I did. So total time is probably about 1 year total
>>27199 Same guy, double post. Unity itself isn't hard. For me it's the scripting. I never do enough of it to stick, so I hafta kind of freshen up on it every time.
(2.57 MB 5000x4406 filly.png)
Anyone still making things for this? I updated >>25351 and am almost done with another picture.
(404.72 KB 2000x1365 1726975482191.png)
>>27167 >"Marble is a perfectly respectable rock!" damn right
>>27952 I made like 2 stuff and already put them in there recently
>>27990 >spank ass >break hand worth it
>>27952 That little line on the ear makes it look way better, she does look a bit chubby though. >>27990 Squeezable.
Since 4chan is back online, OP, you could make a thread there
Can we extend the deadline? This was way too little time for me to get something done.
>>28736 Agreed, I pretty much got my first real full day to work on something today, usually these things have at least a month's worth of time, this is just a little over 2 weeks
(251.60 KB 210x210 1624651992637.gif)
>>28783 I will consider it. The short deadline was out of hope to get the artpack done by the time 4chan came online - the early projection being 2-3 weeks. here, how about a poll? https://strawpoll.com/Dwyo399BkyA
>>28467 I did this as soon as I saw the suggestion, so basically the day of, but the thread wasn't kept alive. Think I should bother with another?
>>28832 Yeah, go ahead and make a new thread and I'll try to bump it up before it dies next time
Motion passes, the release date is pushed out to Friday, May 16, 2 weeks from now. There won't be any more extensions.
>>28893 new thread is up, thanks for your help

>>27167 >BEDROCK ∞ BEYOND: WHERE LAYERS GO DEEP >The reception counter stood hewn from polished serpentine, its edges wrapped in crimson velvet. >A brass bell shaped like an infinity loop waited atop the stone. >Limestone tapped it once. >Ding∞ >"Comin' right up, sweetheart~" >The velvet-draped archway parted. >An earth-stallion glided through, burgundy smoking jacket catching the low light; his mane a sheet of obsidian. >"Welcome to the Loop." His voice poured through the room. "Fresh talent, I hope?" >Limestone blinked twice, standing awkward and solid as her namesake. "Looking for steady shifts. Word is you pay well for strong backs and good technique." >"The steadiest." His gaze crawled over her frame, measuring, appraising. "Sturdy barrel. Prime stance. And your flanks! Perfectly toned for… vigorous shifts." >Professional pride puffed up Limestone's chest. "Years hauling feldspar will do that. Core strength matters in proper extraction." >"Oh, you'll certainly extract plenty of bits." The stallion's lips curled upward at one corner. "We pay top rates for workers with flanks that know just how hard to… grind." >Finally! A farm that understood proper millstone technique. "Ponies always underestimate how critical accurate grinding angles are." >The stallion traced lazy circles on the velvet countertop, weight shifted to one hip. "You're comfortable working long… shafts, I trust?" >She snorted, stone-faced. "I'm a Pie. Been handling shafts since fillyhood. Maud always praised my thoroughness." >"Family business. How charmingly traditional." "Four generations." Solemn nod. "Rock-solid service. Hooves-on approach from dawn to midnight." >"Midnight shifts come with nice bonuses." "Makes sense." She ran mental calculations. "Cooler bedrock, tighter grain." >"Tighter is everypony's favorite." "Damn right. Nothing ruins productivity like sloppy aggregates." >A clipboard slid across the counter toward her. >"Standard intake. Stage name, measurements, preferred positions—" >Positions? >Her eyes scanned the options: Standing, Side-saddle, Reverse Cow—per… Pegging??? >…Odd names for quarry stances, but whatever. >She checked ALL OF THE ABOVE. >Flexibility's an asset on a job site. >"Oh, enthusiastic. They'll love you," he murmured approvingly, flipping to the next set of silhouettes, none wearing hardhats. >"Pick a costume that speaks to you. We've got Sultry Sandstone, Gneiss & Naughty, Purebred Pegmatite—" >These costumes had far more fishnet than safety net, and certainly more lace than harness straps. "What in Tartarus would I need lace for on a dig site?" >"Sweetheart, you are the dig site." >Beat. >Realization stratified in layers across their faces. >"You thought this was a—" he began. "You thought I was a—" Limestone countered. >In unison: "Oh. SCHIST." "I came here to pound actual rocks, not that!" >"Rock's just the house theme, darling, clients dig consistency." He explained. "Shame, you'd have really rocked their world." >She hoof-bumped the infinity bell on her way out. >Ding∞
