(I'm serious, I will CITE instances of this if you doubt me, but for this post I won't continue on this in the interest of staying on topic) Still not as canon as the one sided Spike has a crush on Rarity (Pinkie Pie promise not to tell anypony). Beefspike fantasy sequences are funny, but it's very clearly one sided and Rarity just sort of uses Spike to do menial tasks because he likes lurking around her.

But back to the topic of Spike. It's very true that Rarity uses him as some kind of tool. It was an open secret that this crush existed and she used it as it is. I mean, holy moly in "Secret of My Excess" where he grows they kinda had a "romantic" moment if you can call it that, but never did she tell him that he shouldn't pursue her heart. Not even in the later seasons. They even had an episode where Spike finds a friend, Gabby the Griffon, that makes him spend less time with Rarity and she gets envious.

I didn't like him because to me he came off as an emotional wimp/weakling, like a mama's boy. Everyone entitled to their opinion though.
