>>5834 Is there a group to which I may upload all but one of my stories so that others will know they don't contain such things, that they only adhere to the proper canon and are about proper ponies and the like? I do accept commissions not that anyone takes me up on the offer and I'm not totally opposed to writing homosexuality in a story, so long as I may charge extra for it. Currently, none of my stories have any horrible shipping garbage in them; I'd add warnings for them, anyway. >>5838 We see how that went. >>6156 >That's what I often do, but I'm sure there are cool active/new authors out there, they're just hard to find… Should I shill myself here? >Too bad there isn't (afaik) a group that'd collect newer fics in the style of "classic FiM". The group "Faustian Orthodoxy" is dead. Someone should make such a group. The remainder of this post recycles some things I've written over the years; I've recycled these points several times by now, I notice. >>9148 >Write what you want to read, anon. It's the only way. I wholly agree. Too many authors decide to make fun of the worse aspects of the later seasons, instead of ignoring them entirely, as I do. I stopped watching the show in season five, and I dislike chunks of what came before, so I purposefully distinguish my world when I write. Whenever I mention Twilight, I also mention she's, of course, a unicorn. I write fetish stories, though I don't merely write fetish stories, but create a beautiful backdrop of Equestria in which to place them. Too few authors do this, as well. >>9749 I don't give a fuck what Hasbro considers canon. I have my canon and will autistically obsess over it until I'm dead, and I'll refuse to create any artwork or stories that contradict my canon, including changing major events. No business gets to create, or rather fund, art and simultaneously worm its way into men's skulls and tell them how to accept it. Fuck that. I have more enthusiasm and more talent than the late show writers, so I won't give a damn about what they did. Twilight Sparkle is a unicorn and always will be. There's a story involving Cadence I'll eventually write; she'll be a pegasus who has a magical artefact keeping her young, which she will plan to give to her descendent. Regardless, I have much more fun writing about secondary and original characters, although I've written some good Pinkie Pie stories. As I've already stated, we control the canon. I'm completely serious when I claim to have more enthusiasm than the later writers, so my version of canon matters more than theirs.
>>9801 >If Hasbro decided (or decides) to continue G4, then the universe would continue with it. Don't let Hasbro yank you back and forth like a dog. I'll tack some miscellaneous writing advice to the end of my posts: I take a lot of care to write my stories properly. It's very easy to shatter the verisimilitude by poor word selection, or carelessly referencing Earth. I try to not deviate too much from modern English, unless it's relevant, but there are some nitpicks I make, although my earlier stories don't feature these as heavily. I don't write "they" when a character's sex is known and, traditionally, the male pronoun is used when the sex is unknown, but I like putting RGRE undertones in my stories, so I use the female pronoun instead. I avoid calling children "kids", because that word refers to goats. I also avoid mentioning "hands" in my work, and have recently started avoid derived words such as "handle" as well; I'd rather write "hoofle", or find a way to avoid the awkward phrasing entirely. It's relatively easy to replace the verb "handle" with the verb "stomach" as one example. Since I've already written a long post, I'll also complain about how badly Twilight's characterization has been mangled by that princess shit, even though I'm preaching to the choir here. I've read stories where damn near every mention of Twilight is just about being a princess, and getting accustomed to her new princess body. She could take a shit, and it would be a princess shit. How anyone can like Twilight, yet not recognize this mangles her beyond recognition is beyond me. I wanted to read what seemed like a nice story once, and I don't read stories much, but it just kept rubbing it in my face, at every opportunity. Twilight was literally just walking, and the writer took the time to go into detail about how it was different now that she was a princess. I didn't finish it.
>>10723 >I don't give a fuck what Hasbro considers canon. I have my canon and will autistically obsess over it until I'm dead Based. If you were following the logic of the hasbro cocksuckers then if the company arbitrarily decided to say that none of the seasons are canon, only equestria girls, you would be forced to go with it. Also lol, what the fuck happened to your post?
>>10726 Yes, exactly my point. It got cut off, and my deletion password didn't work. I reported it and reposted, but the owner hasn't deleted it yet.
>>5834 A fine example of Sturgeon's Law. Except Sturgeon was wrong in this case, 99% percent of this is shit.

>>9926 I want to disagree but I am not even sure if I'm allowed to talk about a witch in broad daylight without getting perma shoad here.

New here on nhnb; seems comfy so far. Came over from /mlp/ to escape all the shit mentioned by OP here. Looking at the discussion about bad filtering on Fimfiction, is there a dedicated thread here on nhnb that tries to curate good stories (stories that are not the kind of junk OP or >>6165 mention)? Maybe there should be one? Just spit-balling.+
>>12927 There are at least two threads about fics and greens: >>96 >>5580 Although I'm afraid I'm not getting what do you mean by "curating". People are just posting about stories they liked. We do not have a dedicated fimfiction general like /mlp/ does.

>>12929 >Curate >I mean something close to the literal definition: "to select (the best or most appropriate) especially for presentation, distribution, or publication" - Merriem-Webster More specifically, what I mean by "curate" is a sort of central location that accumulates links to stories considered to be generally free of anthro, dykery, faggotry, cringe crossovers, G5, injected wokism, and other icky low-quality content already mentioned in this thread. NHNB is kind of like that in the sense that it does a relatively good job of keeping non-pony trash out. It "curates pony" in a sense. So, perhaps we should create a central repository or hub of links to good greens. It could be done on ponepaste, pastebin, or similar. A thread on NHNB could be created that serves as a place to discuss maintenance of it and to post suggestions of greens to be included in the repository. Again, just throwing ideas around. I'm fairly new to MLP fandom (but I more or less align with other Anons in this thread in their frustrations), so maybe I am just unaware if this has been tried before. Pic unrelated: Just a comfy moon pic I found where she looks like she's thinking about something.

>>13847 Not him but I think there is no point in curating. What I would rather see is an efficient labeling/tags system. Everybody has personal tastes just look what I used to search on fimfic: -#anthro -#equestria-girls -#crossover -#mlp-g5 words:>20000 -#starlight-glimmer -#sunset-shimmer -#human -#original-character -#discord -#suicide-self-harm -#narcotics -#fetish Now wait until somebody says it is deficient/too harsh or whatever. Who should be the one to curate content? Why bother if it can be filtered personally so everyone is happy? Look at >>12689 I am sorry for those who had already read, cringe-skipped, and filtered nearly everything. I did not manage to reach this point yet. However I am mostly done with some of the largest stories there already.
