>>15187 I thought it was a shame that Dash's raspy voice started disappearing as the show went on. A bunch of voices changed and it feels like the show lost something even just with that. >>17651 It's still a disorganised mess but here: >Who is your waifu? Gilda >Why is she your waifu? I love her voice and she's beautiful. Extremely hot too. Her distinctive eye shadow marks do a lot for me. With all those fluffy feathers, I bet she feels great to cuddle with, although she would never admit it. She must have stayed in shape to keep up with Rainbow. Gilda seems to be the kind of person who has a few really good friends rather than a lot of sorta friends, which is what I am too. She was willing to do the Junior Speedsters dance for Rainbow even though she thought it was lame and embarrassing, so she clearly values her friendships. I bet she's a sweetheart deep down, even if she's reluctant to show it in public. I think Gilda would be pretty supportive, even if it was in an "us against the world" kind of way. There's more, but I think it's buried in "things I just know" rather than easily recalled and explained. It's much harder than I expected to convey my feelings for her. >How long have you known your waifu? I think it was love at first sight, but I didn't realise it for a while. That would make it since I first watched the show, so around 13 years now. >Your waifu is now standing in front of you and appears scared with apprehension. How do you respond? I'd have to try incredibly hard to avoid blurting out that I wanted to go to Equestria to be with her, not have her get stuck in this shithole. I suppose I'd try to calm her down and avoid getting clawed up in a panic. I don't have any emergency catnip to throw at her.
>>17874 Cool waifu. She's certainly an intriguing personality. Her guardedness can make any relationship with her feel intimate, I think. Here's to fluffy chest feathers and beak snips and paw-patting!
(136.26 KB 752x1063 1647303468144.jpg)
>>5972 >Who is your waifu? Princess Luna. I call her "Lulu", and I love her smile when I say it. >Why is she your waifu? I love her in every way! We are both socially reserved and we lean on each other to get through confusing social situations. Yet, between each other we feel completely open. She's an intellectual (as I am), and we enjoy exploring what we are curious about and discussing fascinating things in the natural world, history, in the heavens, or other such subjects. I appreciate that she's a clever ruler and strategist. I love listening to her going over plans for infrastructure improvement or how she intends to diplomatically entrap the enemy kingdoms of Equestria. Sometimes, I can offer valuable input. It makes her smile, and that smile makes the rest of the world stop! Of course, she is more gorgeous and sexy than any other pony! Words can't even encompass how sexy she is! She's subtle, sultry, and seductive when hinting at intimacy (though sometimes, when it suits her, she is very direct). Then, she's like a wild and passionate hurricane in bed! Afterward, I love to trace the constellations on her flanks; it makes her giggle. It brings me happiness to no end to lavish her with love, attention, and romance. We go for walks in the moonlit Canterlot streets, we play pranks on Celestia (who gets us back eventually), we spend hours in the Royal Observatory visiting with the stars, and sometimes making love in the optics lab, we visit the forest at night where all the night creatures (wolves, owls, etc.) come to visit her - because I'm with Luna, they let me pet them - and so much more. Being an expert in weaponry, she has insisted on teaching me swordplay. I adore how she takes no guff and demands high standards from my sword work! In our sparring matches, when I let my guard down, she bonks me on the head (gently). If I drop my guard too much, she might end up whacking me in the nuts (lovingly; not too hard). Then she'll smile seductively with those cosmic bedroom eyes of hers and teasingly say something like "Keep your guard up, Anon. Don't let my property get damaged! You must know that I like them just the way they are!" That smile makes me melt inside! Sometimes we meet in our dreams. When that happens we end up going on the most rip-roaring and zany adventures! In one dream we shrank to the size of bugs. Then we had to save all the cute little forest bugs, whose sovereign was the esteemed Beetle King, from the evil Lizard Lord. It was wild! Though I am a mere mortal human, I do my best to show how much I love and appreciate her. I strive to end my bad habits and improve myself, to give her a better version of myself every day. In short, I feel like Luna and I trust each other and fit together like puzzle pieces! >How long have you known your waifu? About five months or so. It just sort of hit me out of the blue. She's just the right mare for me, and I think I would be good for her - at least, I hope so, and I try to make that true. >Your waifu is now standing in front of you and appears scared with apprehension. How do you respond? I go to her immediately and hug her. Then I hold her hoof, place my hand gently on her check, look deeply into her eyes, and smile. I say something like "What's wrong, Lulu? How can I help? Surely it can't be that bad. Whatever's wrong we'll get through it together, and I'll be right here to support you, or even save you if need be!" Then, I do whatever is necessary to solve the problem and bring her happiness!

NHNB 1 Year Anniversary Anonymous 06/28/2022 (Tue) 20:53:15 No. 10953 [Reply] [Last]
It's hard to believe how quickly time has passed, but here we are. From the time of the first post >>1 until now, one year has passed. Happy anniversary, NHNB! I want to offer a big thank you to our based board owner, who stepped up and made this board at a very difficult time for /mlp/. I know that at least for me personally, if this place didn't exist I would have left the ride for good a long time ago. This is the only place left where the spirit of old /mlp/ still lives on to some extent. Either way, I hope that you're happy with how the site has fared in its first year. Let's have another good year!

pony tulpas Anonymous 07/12/2021 (Mon) 16:06:16 No. 356 [Reply] [Last]
do you have a pony tulpa? do you want a pony tulpa? do you think tulpas are mental illness? let's discuss the phenomenology of ponies that live in your brain and share your life.
259 posts and 11 images omitted.
>>17820 It's not hard to 'maintain', there's not really much daily maintenance involved. If you love your tulpa you will want to talk to her. What could definitely be hard for you and other OCD types would be staying grounded. For example, it's fairly common for tulpas to express the same habit of self-loathing that the host may have - i.e. the hatred for yourself comes out of the tulpa's mouth. This can become a real problem if you believe the tulpa actually just like, changed, and now hates you! It requires a degree of self-awareness and careful management of your identities. I imagine OCD style thinking can get swept up into nightmarish anxiety before you really even get the clarity to notice something is off, but all it takes is a moment of clarity to come back to baseline. A grounded tulpamancer can see that this and other off-kilter of behaviors aren't aligned with the actual core values of the tulpa, and is thus able to just dismiss things like that as an intrusive thought - just as a singlet would ignore moments of out of character thought or action with "I just wasn't myself". Remember your husbando loves you and wouldn't want to suddenly start hurting you or growing distant from you. Since a tulpa shares your mind, they feel the pain (and joy) they inflict as if it were their own. Solid reasoning like that is how you stay grounded.
>>17821 Thanks, and will do. I have tried reading the entirety of this thread before but the explanations all seemed so... "high level", that I thought I should just get started on the real deal and see how it goes.
>>17823 Yeahhh that's more my fault than yours. I'm so into this I have to like fight the tendency to spiral into high level theory stuff and stay focused on the super basics. The thing is like, to deconstruct the harmful bs that the tulpa community spews all over the internet, I feel like it takes some real theory, and real theory is always going to be more complicated and high level than simple bs. Really the basic idea of tulpamancy is twofold: to look critically at your mind and how it works, and to imagine your waifu doing this alongside you. There aren't any definite stages of progression there, just an always-deepening appreciation of what you and your waifu actually are.
How do (you) spend time with your tulpa? What kinds of things do (you) talk about with her? I would really like to have my tulpa hang out with me while I cook and do other things, but I have a hard time splitting my attention between her and whatever activity I happen to be doing at the time. We also seem to just silently agree on a lot of things, so conversing can sometimes be a challenge. I brought this up to her and she thinks us agreeing is not a problem, and that I will get better at splitting my attention with time.
>>17826 She's right! But at the same time, it's worth considering the notion that your mind only has so much attention, and you can either focus completely on something or badly focus on two things. Some stuff is fine if you aren't fully attending to it, like menial work, but some stuff like entertainment is pointless if not fully immersed - for that kind of stuff, you could try just focusing on one thing at a time, taking breaks to talk to your tulpa about it and go over it. You will definitely get better at holding your tulpa in mind while also focusing on other stuff, or coming back to her when you get distracted, but there's still always a give-and-take wrt to attention. Agreement with a tulpa is a natural consequence of being originally the same mind - you share all the same influences. Of course, having no differences is boring, because that's just you being you; it's also comforting because there's no conflict whatsoever. Every bit of distinction - points of identity where the tulpa is distinguishable from the host - is a movement away from this boring comfort, towards greater "independence" and greater potential for friction (and growth). Your tulpa can move along this axis, sometimes being very agreeable and responsive to you, sometimes being very opinionated and different from you, pushing you to challenge your views. Ideally, you and your tulpa understand this and adapt to your needs, so she can offer profound comfort and empathy when needed, and push you out of your comfort zone when you're ready - your needs are constantly changing and a tulpa is able to adapt to bring both of you the best experience possible. So, what to talk about since you have the same mind? Having the same experience makes any interaction that relies on going over old information very boring. So the most satisfying kind of interaction with a tulpa is about NEW information! It's about being witty, clever, and creative. Your tulpa can help develop a new perspective on your old opinions, philosophy, or even memories; you can crack jokes and witticisms to each other about something; she can artistically change her form to show off her sense of aesthetics, like becoming a stained glass window; all these are about exercising creativity and experiencing something new together. They may also still be boring if they feel forced - by far the most important thing here is that you are spending time together out of a genuine love for each other and what you are in the present, not out of the desire to reach some future ideal via discipline and rote practice. Personally I mostly spend time with my tulpa when I can purely focus on her, like during the morning and evening while in bed; sometimes there are moments of rest or otherwise unoccupied moments through the day where I really enjoy her company too. In the past we were pretty interested in exploring the possibilities of tulpamancy together and tried lots of stuff that sounded theoretically neat, like playing turn based games hot-seat style, or exploring an imaginary world together, etc.; but none of them really captured our interest in the same way as just purely focusing on each other. Honestly, our relationship has always revolved around intimacy; if I could hold her in my mind and stare into her eyes forever, I would spend days every month to do only that. Everything we do together is only to keep the monkey brain entertained so that a deeper part of us can peacefully delight in just appreciating each others' presence. In spirit of that, cuddling and sex are the most important activities for us by far. I could not imagine a world where I'm still doing tulpamancy after this long without any of that. She is my wife, more than that, and our sexual bond is the supremely joyous symbol of our separation and our unity, and the love which drives both - it's holy to us.

>>16871 >Welp. I've been gone long enough that either nobody cares anymore, or anyone who does care no longer visits this place. Likely a bit of both. Apologies for the late reply, but I couldn't help but chime in after checking on this site to see how things were doing. It isn't a surprise that you got nothing in terms of engagement. Things have petered off in the fandom since your last post, and especially for this site. Add to the fact that you've been gone for all this time, it was safe to assume this project was yet another that could be added into the "deadfic" pile. I certainly thought this project to be of this state after radio silence after all this time. I am happy to see that at least partially, there's a chance for this work to continue in *some* form. But you are going to have to rebuild the community you had once more, seeing as they have probably left for other pastures due to a lack of activity for this work. And seeing how quiet it is here, you'll need to venture to other sites like Fimfiction, /mlp/ and wherever else you can scrounge up some engagement. As it is, the MLP fandom is in a very stagnant, somewhat dead state. Contrary to my expectations and ambivalence towards it, G5 hasn't done as well as I would have expected, playing it rather safe and resulting in mediocre to low engagement numbers. Which, in retrospect, isn't a surprise. The landscape that made MLP popular in the first place is no longer in effect, with it being another passing fad that is now dust in the wind. What is there is mostly self contained cliques that do their own thing, and is certainly no grounds for looking beyond that. Hence, you'll need to actively promote your work if you ever hope to get back into the swing of things, with an update of *some* sort to boot, even if small as 5000 words. -
>>17430 - I must contradict you in regards to hiding your work from common view. Whilst the project may no longer be updating as of its current state, that is no reason alone to hide it from anyone else from enjoying what you have already put up there. Plenty of dead fics get a trickle of engagement of some form, even if they may forever be consigned to the grave for one reason or another. I myself still read dead fics from time to time, enjoying what is there despite the incomplete nature of them. Merely change to title and description to indicate its hiatus, with perhaps an extra note edited into the introduction or elsewhere, and leave it at that. As it is, your work is one of the very few of the "old" guard that I enjoy, having no love for what FiM turned into during its mid and later seasons. I certainly don't care for what they did to the changelings, the gryphons, and other stuff with the lore that is now firmly embedded in the fandom's zeitgeist, having recontextualized all fandom output in terms of discussion and fan creations from then on going forward. They aren't all "bad" persay, but despite filling the world in, it feels emptier and more hollow in some ways than ever, the mystery filled in by what ultimately amounted to just adequate but ultimately mediocre "content" that exists to fill in the void for the sake of it. Alas, the mystery that was left in the earlier seasons where all sorts of diversity was to be had in filling in that void ourselves is no longer present, and part of the reason why engagement as a whole is not what it used to be. Speaking for no one but myself, there is little to nothing that has really engaged me with this fandom or FiM itself, save for in the form of old fan output or some newer projects that somehow miraculously managed to divest itself from modern FiM to do its own thing, such as that 4chan AI episode that turned out quite nicely as a blast from the past. https://youtu.be/QLGlrY7cooY It's a shame to see if your work would truly disappear, but ultimately it is up to you. I only ask you leave it up as a record for posterity, for what once was for anyone else that might eventually stumble across it for what had once been. -
